Psychometric testing, using a well-respected and validated personality questionnaire is a great way to assist with gaining personal insight. It's also one of the tools I use in workplace mediation and coaching to assist with self-awareness. I am registered with the British Psychological Society to administer one of the ‘big five' personality tests (NEO-PI-3).
The NEOPI3 inventory measures 36 fascinating areas of an individual's personality: anxiety, anger, depression, impulsiveness, vulnerability, warmth, gregariousness, assertiveness, activity levels, excitement seeking, trust, straightforwardness, altruism, compliance, modesty, tender-mindedness, competence, order, dutifulness, ambition, self-discipline, deliberation and openness to fantasy, aesthetics, feelings, actions ideas and values. It allows an individual to understand how their unique personality compares with the UK Professional and Managerial population.
